Saudi Arabia’s Home Healthcare Services Benefit Over 71,000 Patients

The Saudi Ministry of Health has reported that more than 71,000 individuals have benefitted from home healthcare services since their inception, with over 58,000 actively receiving care in the past year. These essential services are delivered by 244 specialized home healthcare departments staffed with over 2,700 professionals.

Access to Home Healthcare - Eligible patients can access these services through referrals from primary healthcare centers or specialized hospital departments. This system ensures that individuals meeting the Ministry's criteria receive the care they need in the comfort of their homes.

Expanded Services for Diverse Needs - The Ministry has significantly broadened the scope of home healthcare to include:

  • Wound and bedsore management

  • Chronic disease care

  • Postoperative recovery

  • Oral and dental health services

  • Intravenous therapy

New specialized pathways such as maternal and child care, dialysis, and palliative care have also been introduced, enhancing the range of support available to patients.

Supporting Healthcare Transformation - Home healthcare is part of a broader effort under the Health Sector Transformation Program aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. By implementing health clusters across the Kingdom, the Ministry aims to improve access to high-quality care, elevate the patient experience, and enhance the overall quality of life for citizens and residents.

These initiatives reflect the Ministry’s commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for all.
